12/11/23: Chambeando
¡Bueno Bueno! This week was a little slower, but still good. It was transfers and I am still in Arriaga with Elder Garcia. When I say it was a little slow it's cuz basically all of our appointments that we had set up with our new references from the week before cancelled or weren't able to meet for some reason. So that was a little tough. But we're gonna hopefully get in some lessons with them this week!
Chambeándo is a Mexican word for working, trabajar and obra are other words for work, but Chambear is the most common you'll here in Mexico, apparently it's only a Mexican thing. I title this week's email that cuz that's what we've been doing a lot of. Tonsss of contacting and finding new people, less active members and sharing scriptures and messages with members and other folks this week. It wasn't the most fun, but that's what it is sometimes. I know we and the people we have shared with will be blessed for our efforts eventually. God always gives back.
One cool thing this week was our buddy Joaquin came to church! If you read my last email, you'll remember him. Basically helped heal his legs with my DL through a priesthood blessing. It was funny cuz he didn't come to church last week, but he did this week. He's a funny dude, but he can still totally walk fine like there was never any problem before. Crazy stuff. It's good to see him progressing.
Scripture of the week is actually a chapter. It's 3 Nephi 3. It's not about missionary work or teachings of awesome prophets, it's about preparation. Lachoneus is a dawg. The Gadianton robbers sent some pretty scary threats to him, but he "could not be frightened by the demands and the threatenings of a robber". Instead he turned to the Lord and asked what to do and how to prepare his people. That's what we need to do with temptation and other ideas pf wickedness. Satan is kinda a robber, a robber of joy and happiness. We need to be like Lachoneus and turn to God first and not listen to someone who only wants to harm us. Way cool chapter. Highly recomend reading it with a "what can I do to be like this?" question in mind.
Anyway, don't got a ton else. Thanks for reading if you did. Keep praying, God always hears your prayers. Look for answers to them too, even if it's not exactly what you want to hear. ¡Adios!
