2/19/24: Comida China y Casa Nueva

Hey all, what's poppin? I can tell you what's NOT poppin, comida china (or as the people here call it, comeeda cheena). This week we decided it'd be a good idea to hit up the local mexican-chinese place for lunch one day. So we did. Bad idea, especially the day before we move houses (more on that later). Turns out comida china had it out for us and didn't want to sit well. Especially for my comp.

Saturday we moved houses, cuz it was the only day we could get someone with a pickup truck to help us. We moved cuz our old house had an unholy amount of functional/reasonable living situation problems (orders from Presi). So we packed up and bounced. Only problem was our dear friend comida china (mentioned earlier) knocked us off our feet. We'd have been bed-riden saturday if we weren't moving houses. But there we were, half-zombies, loading up, heading out and moving in. I don't think I've been more tired on the mission than I was after all that while being sick. We also had a lesson with a group of youth set up for that evening that we did not want to miss. So we moved everything in, took a breather for 5 minutes, and set out for our true purpose.

Cool thing was, is after that 5 minutes of rest I felt 100% energized and ready to teach, Elder Flandes was still más o menos, but he was alive. Turns out, God blesses us for our efforts, and we walked out of the lesson with 3 baptismal dates and 3 new people in teaching. It was epic. We then went home and crashed lol.

We also had talks to give in sacrament meeting, and we did not write anything until an hour before the meeting started (because we have not had very much time) but they actually ended up being way good (another miracle). God's always got your back when you do good stuff.

Anyway, that was the most eventful stuff of the week, so I won't bore you with other stuff.

Scripture of the week is gonna be Moroni 6:4, stolen from my cousin, Anziano DeBuck, serving in Rome, Italy. He brought up in his email how in spanish, italian and probably other latin languages, it calls Christ a "perfectioner" of faith. It's not a word in English, but I really like the idea of this description. Our faith is very imperfect, but even when we just put a little bit of effort into following Him and demonstrating our faith, he perfects it. Thus another awesome title of Christ.

Thanks for reading if you did! Have a good week and don't eat comida china! ¡Adios!
