2/26/24: Hoyo con Pajaros
Hola. Back at it again. To start off today, I'll explain the title, "hole with birds". Today for p-day we went to a place that's famous because it has a lot of parakeets and other birds that live in a really big hole in the ground. It was cool. We did in fact see a lot of birds.
This week was epic cuz we had some more baptisms. Larry (14), Darwin (12) and Wiliam (9) all accepted the invitation to follow their buddies Christian and Daniel (some guys we baptized at the beginning of the transfer) and be baptized. It took a good amount of work with them, but man it's awesome to see the fruits of our labors. They're super excited about recieving the Priesthood and helping with the sacrament, and they are super earnest with their learning about Christ. It's super awesome to see.
Some other success we saw this week was with our friends Carmita and Fidel, we put them on date for baptism! They are both super faithful and love the members of the branch here. Fidel has given up cigarretes and alcohol completely for one month and is going strong and intends on staying away for good. He said meeting us and going to church weekly with his wife have given him a strength to quit his addictions he's never seen before. Awesome stuff.
This week has been awesome but weird at the same time, because we've been traveling back and forth to other areas for service, divisions, reunions and more. I spent like less than half the week in Cintalapa (my assigned area). Travel here is goofy cuz we get everywhere on big tourbuses that they STACK with people. They're meant to hold like 40 people, but they usually end up with about 70-80 people. So there's a lot of very tight cramming, which makes it a good time.
Scripture of the Week is 2 Nefi 8:6, an Isaiah verse... ooooo. Ngl, kinda gave me a seizure reading it in Spanish for the first time, but after pondering it for a sec, it became really cool (with the help of the spirit ofc). I read the Isaiah chapters in Spanish a few weeks ago, and kinda just blazed through (like I usually do in English) but taking the time to sit back and really try to understand them is in fact "vale la pena" (worth it). I mean they're there for a reason right?
I love the last part of it that says "my righteousness shall never be abolished". It's cool cuz no matter how wicked the world is, we always have a clear path of righteousness from Christ. When we strive to be righteous in what we do, we too can "lift our eyes to the heavens, and look upon the earth [and its wickedness] beneath".
Thanks for reading if you did! Have a good week, and don't drink too much Coke! (Like me) ¡Adios!
