3/18/24: Hotcakes para Immigrantes
Bueno bueno, ¿qué tal mis amigos? I'm not gonna lie, this week wasn't too eventful. Still good tho.
We taught some good lessons, invited some people to church (like 30) and 2 of those people came, so that was cool. We're trying to teach about how going to church actually is important for our relationship with Jesus. People in Mexico (and in general) don't really believe that, but it's all good, that's why we're here.
Something that was actually pretty cool was we met a dope family of members from Colombia/Venezuela. They're immigrants looking for a better life in the states. They have 6 kids with a 14 year age gap from oldest to youngest (exactly like my family). We met them when they came to the church building about a week ago hoping for some help from some people in the branch here. The branch totally pulled through and gave them food and blankets and places to sleep. W branch.
My comp and I wanted to help out too, so we made some pancakes for them one morning (cuz that's about all we know how to make...) and gave them some medicine/vitamins and extra blankets we had in our apartment (their first request when we asked what they wanted (apparently Cintalapa is cold...)). We also stopped by another night and gave a little spiritual thought and a Book of Mormon. The two sons that are in their teens want to serve missions in the future too. They're a way cool family
Scripture of the week is gonna be from the Old Testament. In Ezekiel 37:15-19 it talks about some sticks. One from the tribe of Judah, and another from Joseph. It's a prophecy about the Bible and the Book of Mormon coming forth in the last days and testifying of Christ and God together. Like it says in 2 Nephi 29:8. The books are called "sticks" in the scripture, cuz back then they didn't have books like now, and instead used weird writing scroll-type things. So if you've ever wondered where in the Bible it talks about more scripture, that's one of the places you can go! It's a fun little study if you're looking for one.
Anyway, that was the week. Hope yours was good. If not, dang... pray and read scriptures more I guess (that's what I do). ¡Hasta luego!
