10/13/24: Exito

Hey guys! This week was good. Nothin too wild went down, but we got to do some cool stuff with the people here.

First off, general conference was great. We watched it in the chapel with the ward and had a bunch of people in teaching see it, so that was cool. Definitely super hype that Juchitán is getting a temple. For those who don't know, Juchitán de Zaragoza is a city in southern Oaxaca, it's not a huge city, but there are two whole stakes there. It's about 5 hours from Tuxtla, so it's a big drive to the nearest temple (the one in Tuxtla) for them. It's not in my mission, but it's right near the border of it and I served in a city semi close by to it, so I was excited to hear that there'll be a new temple so close by.

We also got to go to the temple with Adriana for the first time, the lady that got baptized about 2 months ago. It was pretty awesome. She's super commited to her covenants and a powerhouse in the lessons we bring her to.

We put some baptismal dates with a good amount of people this week, so that's exciting. We're seeing some really great success in our area for the first time in a while. Not sure if one of the dates will go through though, but we'll just keep the faith and hope and pray our buddy Gregorio pulls through.

I'm reading through Jesus the Christ right now for a part of my personal study, and it's awesome. I started like a week and ago and I'm already like a quarter of the way through (this is insanely fast for me btw, I used to hate reading). I really like it because James E Talmage was a scientist and he writes about all this religious stuff super factually and filled with proofs and stuff. It feels like I'm reading a lab report, but the Spirit is with me... It's a solid book, I'd recommend it to anyone who questions their faith in Christ as a Christian, or who is confused if science and faith can really work together. (They do!!)

Scripture of the Week is gonna be a talk. If anyone watched the saturday afternoon session they'll know that Patrick Kearon gave an amazing talk about the sacrament and where joy really comes from. If you haven't heard it yet, I'd invite you to find it and listen to is ASAP! It's a great one.

Anyway, not a super exciting email, but that's the rundown. Love ya'll. Adios.
