11/11/14: Bienvenidos a Tapachula
Hey guys, how's it going?
First off, we had transfers. I got sent out of good ol La Pimienta in Tuxtla and sent very far. I am now in Tapachula. It is the southern-most city of a decent population in all of Mexico, so that's kind of fun. We are right on the border with Guatamala, and there are soooo many immigrants here. The majority of the city is Venezuelan or Colombian. We are step number one on the path to the States through Mexico.
I'm gonna miss la Pimienta tho, it was a good ward and the members and recient converts were awesome. Also shout out to Elder Roquemore as well, he was a great comp and I'll miss him a ton
They sent me off to Tapachula as a Zone Leader, so I'm excited to see what the future holds. I didn't have that much time as a district leader, so I thought I'd stay like that for longer, but I guess more ZLs were needed.
Tapachula is a fun place because everyone always jokes about getting sick here (it's really hot and the health quality is very low). Turns out the legends are true, cuz after my first meal here, I guess I got hit pretty hard and ended up getting super sick for 2 full days. I vomited like 4 or 5 times and could barely stand or even sit up. I also ended up not eating anything for over 40 hours cuz I couldn't hold anything down and absolutely nothing sounded appetizing, so I lost a good amount of weight in just a day or two.
I'm all good now and am eating fine. After a priesthood blessing, everything kinda just fell into place, so we'll thank God for the miracles. There isn't really very much I can do to avoid that kinda thing in the future, just pray a lot I guess. I didn't do anything weird or eat anything sketchy, it just kinda happened. So just hope I don't get anymore bad luck!
Scripture of the Week is Matthew 19:29
"And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall inherit everlasting life."
I really like this scripture because we can remember that the Lord always has our back. Nothing that we do for Him goes unseen or unaccounted for. We can also remember that recieving the blessings of the Gospel of Jesus Christ never was meant to be easy, but that the blessing are sooo worth it.
That's the rundown of it all! Thanks for reading if you did and hope y'all have a wonderful week! ¡Hasta luego!
