4/29/24: Familia Savinon
Mis queridos amigos y familia, tengo un nuevo correo para vosotros. Esperando que os encontreís bien. (All you spanish speakers are probably weirded out now).
I do have some great news tho... The Familia Saviñon was baptized this week! The best part was the dad of the family was able to baptize them, it was super cool, especially cuz he recieved the priesthood to be able to do it just a few weeks ago.
This family is the best, if I had a list of my favorite investigators, these people would be number 1. It is super awesome that they're baptized cuz now they can start working towards their main goal of getting sealed in the temple and recieving those blessings! I am super happy for them. (Yes I dedicated the email title to them)
Other than that, not a ton else happened this week. We've gotten into the hot season relatively intensely here, so a lot of sweat. It's still not as bad as my first area was tho. The upside is Mangos are now in season, so we're eating a lot of those, and they're pretty good. I also didn't know there were like 30 very different types of mangos, all are good by the way.
One downside I didn't know of training someone with less language experience than you is always having a dry throat. Since it's hot and since my comp is still learning the language, I end up talking a lot. I always walk out of lessons with a way dry throat. It's interesting, I didn't think that it would ever be a problem, but here we are I guess.
Anyway, that's about it, so I'll jump to the Scripture of the Week, Alma 19:35-36. They say, "And it came to pass that there were many that did believe in their words; and as many as did believe were baptized....and we see that His arm is extended to all people who will repent and believe on His name". It's from the people of Ammon, their conversion and the moral we learn from them.
God loves us all. Repentance is real, and it can be real in your life when you make and keep covenants (like baptism) in your life. This is my purpose on my mission, to help others and myself realize the desire God has for them to make and keep real, eternal covenants with Him.
That's the week and that's what I got! Have a good week and go to church!
¡Adios!
- Elder Allen
