7/8/24: La Pimienta

Hello all. I have been transferred. My 6 months in Cintalapa have come to an end. It was tragic, but expected. Cintalapa has a very dear place in my heart now. There are some really awesome people and families I've met with amazing faith. We ended it off well tho, with the baptism of Adriana, it was super good. I have been transferred to an area right smack in the middle of Tuxtla called "La Pimienta". I'm in city life now, woohoo! (kinda) It's the centermost area of the city, if you drop a pinpoint on maps where the letters "Tuxtla Gutiérrez" are, you'll land right onto my new area. I'm now with Elder Peterson, a guy who's been here in Mexico for about 3 months. He's a great guy and super chill. He's a military kid, so he's lived everywhere, so I don't really have a place to say where he's from haha. It's a cool area and it's great seeing an official ward here in Mexico. When I left Cintalapa it technically had the numbers and things for a ward, but it's still in the process of getting that title. But now I'm in a REAL ward, one of the longest standing ones here in Chiapas too. There are tons of cool members that all love the missionaries and it's great seeing the support from them. There's a big family named the Soriano family that makes up like half of the ward, and they are awesome. I've been here for like 4 days and I've been given food by them like 5 times, even though only 2 of the days we were actually scheduled to eat with them. The teaching pool here is interesting, much different from what it was in Cintalapa, but nonetheless full of cool people that want to learn more. We have a guy named Gregorio who's super cool and very interested in strengthening his relationship with Christ, so he came to us! He came to church yesterday for about the last 10 minutes, but he made it and loved it. I'm excited to keep teaching him and see how it goes. To end I'll do the Scripture of the Week. In Ether 15:19-22 we read about the power Satan can take over us if we don't let the Spirit stride with us. It can get to the point where we're "drunken" as the Jaredites were with anger. We should always avoid letting this happen and never let our personal feelings get in the way of the promptings of God. Anyway, that's the story of the week! Thanks for reading and hasta luego! - Elder Allen Photos: 1. Baptism of Adriana 2. Elder Peterson and I 3. Más Chicatán
