9/16/24: Bad Haircut

Yo. What is up, I hope everyone is doing well. I got a not so great haircut this week, but it only cost 40 pesos (like 2 bucks) so a wins a win.

This week was honestly quite slow. But that's how it goes sometimes. It all turned better once Sunday hit tho. I guess that's just what happens when you keep the Sabbath day holy  (go to church).

We did a few exchanges this week where kind of all the lessons and things planned fell through, so they ended up being pretty slow, but we still had a good time. It was also super hot this week. Down here the hottest hours of the day are around 11-1 (cuz we're close-ish to the equator) and it gets double hot if it's gonna rain later in the day. Idk why, but the sun burns HARD in the 30 minutes or so before it rains, and it gets really humid too. And for some reason there were a few days this week where just the whole day was like that.

So, things were slow. But it's all good. I'm still having a great time. And like I said, we were praying for miracles all week and they came on Sunday. A random guy that we'd invited to church weeks ago came to church off a whim, which was cool. And there is a lady who moved out years ago that just moved back into the ward with a kid that wants to get baptized. We had a fun lesson with them.

Like I said, nothing too wild, but the Lord's work continues forward!

To end, the Scripture of the Week is Alma 39:19
"Is it not as easy at this time for the Lord to send his angel to declare these glad tidings unto us as unto our children, or as after the time of his coming?"
The first impression I got off of it is not exactly what I think it's supposed to mean... but I think it was inspiration, so I'll take it:

When I first read it, I thought about God's power and ability to do all things. And how, if He really wanted to, He could just send out a bunch of angels from heaven to convert millions of people to Jesus and everyone would be happy and it would be super easy. But, instead of this, He chooses a bunch of inexperienced 18-25 year old kids to work and struggle and learn how to be His angels through many differing experiences and trials. The thought kinda changed my mind about the mission, and helped me realize that the work I've done and am doing really is not my own.

Anyway, that'll be it! Remember to go to church! Adios!
