Halfway to the Field: 10/4/23
Hey all! This week is my halfway week through MTC, I've been here in provo for 2 weeks and then I had a week and a half online before that. So that makes me a little more that halfway through my 6 week experience. It's flown by! Everyone says that, but it's true, the days are long but the weeks are short. Also! I got my visa and I'm officially going to Mexico!
We started full immersion spanish lessons, meaning we go do all our classes here en Español. So it ends up being a little over 7 hours of full Spanish a day and plus whatever else we say to each other throughout the day. So that can get a little tiring to a brain like mine with little to no Spanish experience. But hey, it's how you learn. Overall though I've done a lot better than I thought I would. We're not even a week into full immersion and Im already able to communicate with others fully in Spanish fairly decently. Of course it's not proper or professional by any means, but I can say words haha. I'm excited to keep going with the learning and to continue letting the Spirit of God help me throughout the learning.
Another big topic this week: General Conference in the MTC!! For those who don't know, general conference is a big meeting that is broadcasted twice a year from the presidency of the church and other authorities in it. They speak about Christ and doctrine and many other great things. My favorite talk from it was one by John C Pingree Jr, he talked a lot on truth and what the difference between doctrine and policy in the church is. Many choose to be offended or get angry at things that change in the church because some believe that it all must be the same always. But this isn't so, a growing church has changes, but at its core there is unchanging truth that does remain constant. He says it better than I do, but if you're interested, you should check it out.
Anyway, that's about all! Thanks for reading if you got this far!
