3/11/24: Padrino Allen
Yo, another week has occurred. It was a good one. Less catholics, which is cool. We also had a baptism! So I'll jump into that.
The people that were baptized this week are Fidel and Carmita. They're a couple in their early 60s, and I've mentioned them before in my emails, cuz they're awesome. We found them my first sunday in the area and they've been attending church super consistently since. We've had a lot of help from the members in their conversion, which is awesome, cuz they had some huge changes to make. Their devotion to the church and Christ is amazing and a giant testimony builder for me.
Funny story from the baptism: So my comp baptized Carmita I baptized Fidel. After the ordinance, Fidel came out of the font and was like "ahhh, gracias, ya eres mi padrino" meaning (thank you, now you're my padrino). For those of you who don't know, a Padrino is a name in spanish for the catholic priest who baptizes the babies. So Fidel, joking of course (he's a funny guy) now calls me his padrino or "Padrino Allen" when he sees me cuz I baptized him haha.
Another cool experience from the week happened yesterday, we found a family of 5 that is super acceptive of the gospel and us. We found them as a reference from some people who are already in teaching from knocking doors. They have already expressed a very strong desire to be baptized, which is way exciting too.
There's been some other good stuff that has happened this week, like stake conference, but that's the best stuff for sure.
Scripture of the Week is Alma 34:32, might be a repeat.... It's one of my favorites out there. It gives us our purpose and meaning. It also ties together understanding of the Plan of Salvation really well too. Life is "the time for men to prepare to meet God", because there is much before and much after in our existence. It's cool.
Anyway, that's what I got for the week! Thanks for reading and remember to be like Jesus! ¡Adios!
