10/28/24: Hace mucho

 Hey guys, how are we all doing? I'm doing pretty solid. Yesterday was my one-year-in-Chiapas-day, so that's crazy. One year ago I questioned myself, "why are my hands sweating? I didn't know heat could do that" and "how do you speak spanish?". But now I am great. It's been a fun full year here in Mexico.


This last week was honestly a endurance one. I don't think one person opened their door or wanted anything to do with us in the street. So that made things a bit slower than usual, but oh well. We did have 2 baptisms though, so that was cool!

Valentina is a 9 year old girl who's mom got baptized a few years ago but kinda went inactive. We found them with the help of some members and they have started coming back to church! Valentina really wanted to get baptized, so we helped her out with it! Lessons with her were great because she asked hilarious, insanely off the hook questions.

Elizabeth, the other person, is super cool. We found her through knocking doors (milagro) and after about 2 or 3 lessons she started to look like a very potential candidate for baptism! Her mom also sits in on the lessons and likes them, but is a little more hesitant for baptism. We'll work on her soon tho! They both have tons of awesome questions and have a lot of potential for their future in their progression with Jesus Christ.

My time in the area is coming to a close. My last interview I had with the President I was pretty much told that I'm out of here. He said he doesn't want me to be in only 2 areas in the span of 1 year (because that's what will happen if I stay here next transfer). So we'll find out next week where I'm off to! I just gotta finish my time off here in La Pimienta strong!

Anyway, I don't want this to be way too long, so I'll cut it now. 

Scripture of the Week is Alma 7:23. It basically just tells us exactly what being Christ-like is. So do that, and the world will be way cooler.

  ¡Felíz Navidad todos! Christmas is awesome and we should all remember why we celebrate it. Because Jesus atoned for us, and thats why His birth is so significant! Its an awesome time in the year, and super groovy in México too.  Alma 7:10-12 is the Scripture for the week. Christ's Atonement and what that means for us. A favorite in teaching for me.  Anyway, the email is way short this week cuz I don't have a phone... I done got mugged and gotta use my comps phone for stuff today, so I'm pressed on time with emails and stuff. But I gotta keep the streak up! So he gave me a little time for this one today. It's also Christmas, gotta email on Christmas. 2/5/24: Hijole

  Casi Hermanos y Hermanas, casi... I almost didn't get one out today guys. That would've ruined a nearly 5 month streak. But nah, here we are, I gotchu, I know y'all are probably on the edge of your seats and scratching your heads thinking "golly gee, when's Elder Allen gonna get his email out today?" But fear not.  In all honesty, this week was a little slower, but still good. We did a lot of meeting with members, inviting inactives to church and other activities and reading Come Follow Me with those people. We have developed some good relationships with these members, it's cool to see. I would write more, but I'm short on time. Scripture of the week is Matthew 5:48, "be ye perfect". Won't lie, I suck at keeping this commandment. All of us do, but that's why we have Christ and His atonement! Who Knew Eclipse Glasses were so Swag? 10/18/23

  Hey all, or as we say here in the MTC, Hola, mi Español es muy mal. It's been a good week, a lot of Spanish and a lot of classtime. It's actually surprised me how well I'm grasping the concepts we're learning, especially considering how well I did in remembering high school Spanish. It's tiring for sure, but I'm learning a lot. Reassignments came in this week, and there were a lot of changes. In our district we have 10 guys going to Mexico and 5 going to the DR. 8 got reassignments. Out of the 10 Mexican missionaries, 7 of them got reassignments due to visa issues and things. I was one of the 3 who managed to squeeze through. So that is kinda exciting. I guess the Lord really needs me in Tuxtla Gutierrez. There was a Solar Eclipse here in Utah, so that was kinda cool. One of our teachers gave us all some glasses to watch it, and we kinda had a photoshoot, it was pretty sweet. I have some pictures attached below. We also had a really good devotional with Elder ...
