11/18/24: Back in Tuxtla?

 Hola hola, how's everyone doing? I hope everyone is great. 


This week was weird because I spent the almost the entire time either on a bus or in Tuxtla. We had a member from the Quorum of the 70 come to our mission and have a couple conferences with us. They had the conference in Tuxtla, so we all had to travel up. It's like a 6 and a half hour bus ride, so it's not exactly just a day trip. It was a good time tho.

The guy's name is Elder Moises Villanueva, he's from Oaxaca, and he's a cool dude. His wife also spake a lot, she's pretty cool too. 

In total I ended up traveling to Tuxtla on Tuesday, having a leadership conference on Wednesday, having the whole mission conference on Thursday, staying and working in Tuxtla on Friday, and going to the temple with our ward on Saturday and also traveling back that day. 

(Side note, our ward temple trip also happened to be this week, so instead of going back to Tapachula and traveling with them back to Tuxtla, we just stayed in Tuxtla on Friday and met them there on Saturday)

The temple was great cuz we had 4 recent converts come to the temple for the first time, so it was cool to bring them there for the first time.

The fun part about staying in Tuxtla on Friday was getting to go and do exchanges with Elder Flandes and Elder Wray, who are both in Tuxtla right now as companions and were both my comps from my time in Cintalapa. We had a good time together and it was fun to catch up.

Anyway, not the most exciting email, but it was overall an awesome week. I still know next to nothing about my actual area in Tapachula, but I'll get it down this week (I hope). 

Scripture of the Week is Helaman 10:4-5. It's a cool missionary scripture.

  ¡Felíz Navidad todos! Christmas is awesome and we should all remember why we celebrate it. Because Jesus atoned for us, and thats why His birth is so significant! Its an awesome time in the year, and super groovy in México too.  Alma 7:10-12 is the Scripture for the week. Christ's Atonement and what that means for us. A favorite in teaching for me.  Anyway, the email is way short this week cuz I don't have a phone... I done got mugged and gotta use my comps phone for stuff today, so I'm pressed on time with emails and stuff. But I gotta keep the streak up! So he gave me a little time for this one today. It's also Christmas, gotta email on Christmas. 2/5/24: Hijole

  Casi Hermanos y Hermanas, casi... I almost didn't get one out today guys. That would've ruined a nearly 5 month streak. But nah, here we are, I gotchu, I know y'all are probably on the edge of your seats and scratching your heads thinking "golly gee, when's Elder Allen gonna get his email out today?" But fear not.  In all honesty, this week was a little slower, but still good. We did a lot of meeting with members, inviting inactives to church and other activities and reading Come Follow Me with those people. We have developed some good relationships with these members, it's cool to see. I would write more, but I'm short on time. Scripture of the week is Matthew 5:48, "be ye perfect". Won't lie, I suck at keeping this commandment. All of us do, but that's why we have Christ and His atonement! Who Knew Eclipse Glasses were so Swag? 10/18/23

  Hey all, or as we say here in the MTC, Hola, mi Español es muy mal. It's been a good week, a lot of Spanish and a lot of classtime. It's actually surprised me how well I'm grasping the concepts we're learning, especially considering how well I did in remembering high school Spanish. It's tiring for sure, but I'm learning a lot. Reassignments came in this week, and there were a lot of changes. In our district we have 10 guys going to Mexico and 5 going to the DR. 8 got reassignments. Out of the 10 Mexican missionaries, 7 of them got reassignments due to visa issues and things. I was one of the 3 who managed to squeeze through. So that is kinda exciting. I guess the Lord really needs me in Tuxtla Gutierrez. There was a Solar Eclipse here in Utah, so that was kinda cool. One of our teachers gave us all some glasses to watch it, and we kinda had a photoshoot, it was pretty sweet. I have some pictures attached below. We also had a really good devotional with Elder ...
