11/4/24:Dia de los Muertos
Hey all! This week was great. Nothing too crazy, but it's always a good time.
This week was the week of Halloween and Dia de los Muertos, so we got to see some fun stuff! Here in Mexico they celebrate both, but they do Halloween a day later on the 1st instead of the 31st. Not really sure why. Most of the traditions here for the holidays are surrounded around either alcohol or being Catholic, so there isn't a lot for us to do as missionaries, but I'm not to bummed. (Being a missionary is way more fun than being a drunk catholic).
My favorite part of it all though is the Pan de Muerto (bread of the dead). It's like this amazing sugar bread that people make for Dia de los Muertos, and it's delicious. Unfortunately they only make it around this time of year, so I will not be having Pan de Muerto for at least another year
The work here is pretty good. We get tons of references here in the area, from members and from online, so that's cool. The only problem is that none of the references we get ever live in our area. So we're always sending really cool prepared people off to other areas, zones and missions. This last month we sent off about 8 people who all got baptized a week or so after we sent them off. It's cool to be the hand in helping them get baptized, but a little sad not being the one to be there for the baptism.
We get transfers tonight and I'm about 100% sure I'm leaving, I have no idea where to though. I guess we'll all have to wait for the next email.
Scripture of the Week is Alma 33:19-22. It talks about the Brass Serpent and how crucial just believing really is. It shows us how doubters will never recieve manifestations of the Lord's power because they simply refuse and reject them. But it also shows us how believing really is the way to recieve the Lord's power in our lives. "And I know it sounds like a cat poster, but it's true"
(Bonus points for those who recognize the quote)
Amyway, that's the week. Thanks for being cool people and reading my emails. Adios
