12/16/24: Spanglish

 Hey all, what's up?

We had transfers this week. I'm staying here in Tapachula and I recieved Elder Ricks. He's fron Phoenix, Arizona and has 18 months in the mission. He's a dawg and is a great leader. I'm super excited to get working with him some more in these upcoming months.

He's my first american comp that has more time in the mission than me, so it's been fun working with him in that way. We speak a very strange mix of Spanglish a lot of the time. Some phrases just come out easier for us in spanish, so we just make a nice little mix of that and our native tongue when speaking to each other.

He also knows a ton of Tzotzil, a local language spoken in certain parts of Chiapas. He's teaching me some of that too so that when I get sent up to the area where it's spoken I'll be ready.

I also went on divisions this week with some other Elders in the zone while waiting for my comp to pull up. Elder Roberts and Elder Butler. They're awesome dudes.

The work in our area has slown down a little, so we're tryna work hard in the finding side of things. We do have one lady that is thinking hard on baptism. Pray for Maria Jose.

Scripture of the Week is 2 Nefi 29:1-2. It talks about the covenants God has made with us as His people.

I love the Book of Mormon and modern day revelation because it really helps us focus on the important parts of our relationship with God. They help us focus on what He has given us the scriptures and prophets for, to remember our covenants and to be centered on Christ. I'm really glad we can be centered and focused on those things instead of other things a lot less impactful and important like what day of the week we go to church on or something like that.

Anyway, that's the wrap! Thanks for reading if you did and remember to renew your covenants! Adiosss
