4/22/24: Cumpleanos (y muriendo)

Hola mis estimados amigos. This week was a little wacky, so I'll jump right in.

First off, it was my birthday on Friday! which was way cool. Thanks to all the cool people that remembered and sent something! And if you didn't send me anything and forgot, it's okay, I'll just never talk to you again. (Just kidding, odds are I've probably forgotten about your birthday too, I forgive you).

But yeah, the birthday was fun. Two of our awesome investigator families, Familia Saviñon and Familia Ruiz, both threw a party for me on friday, so that was super nice. We ate a lot of cake. It was kinda funny party hopping as missionaries, but there we were.

Another interesting part of the week was I thought I was going to die. I woke up saturday morning and felt AWFUL. (Yes it was stomach problems, it's always stomach problems...). I won't get into the details, but let's just say I threw up a lot. I've never thrown up so intensely, it was horrible, my entire body was sore for like 2 days.

We went to the local pharmacy to get a diagnosis, and pretty much the diagnosis was "you're sick". So that was cool. I think it was some meat I ate the day before for lunch, and I'm sure the 4 cakes and swimming pools of coke I drank the day before didn't help. But we're all good now. My body has successfully wrenched out whatever it was and I'm good to go. The other missionaries that I'm with have been pretty sick too, so we learned I'm not special and it was in fact something from the food.

Even tho it wasn't the root of the problem, moral of the story is probably still drink less coke.

I'll wrap up with the Scripture of the Week. This week we're going to the teachings of Alma, in Alma 13:16. It's a cool scripture that talks about the importance and meaning of ordinances. "that they might look forward to him for a remission of their sins, that they might enter into the rest of the Lord."

I love how Alma puts it, Ordinances help us look forward to Christ. I know a lot of people that say they can look forward unto Christ without ordinances or a Church, and maybe they can do it pretty well in their minds, but I know that they will never be able to follow Christ as well without doing it in His way or without making a promised bond to do so. Covenants are cool. Read the scriptures, go to church, make and follow covenants. Life will be better :)

Anyway that's what I got! Have a good week and ¡adios!
