4/8/24: Mandados a la Goma
Buen dia/tarde/noche. I'm gonna say it, I'm gonna be a basic missionary: this week was a long and crazy one so let's hop on in. For real tho, it was wack.
For starters, we found no one this week. 0, nada, absolutely no new people in teaching from this week in Cintalapa. We kinda just forgot to plan in time to knock doors and contact in the street. We planned a ton of lessons and travels and various different things for the week, to the point where we overflowed with this side of the work and didn't really do the finding side.
But it's all good, the work paid off. We set 11 baptismal dates this week and had a baptism on friday! We're also gonna have a baptism today, so stay tuned in the google photos for that. Big time miracles. We have a super cool branch president who brings in the spirit super well when he teaches, so we figured we'd get him to help us out in some lessons this week and throw down some fechas (baptismal dates).
My poor comp tho, he's probably headed out of the area this week. He's got 3 transfers here and it looks like his time has come. We actually asked if he could stay another transfer here to the mission president in our interviews with him this week, but he kinda just "sent us to the goma" (he kinda just said that's not how it works).
Speaking of interviews with the president; Ladies and gentleman, I'm proud to announce that my most recent interview with Presidente Camey was a whopping 45 seconds long. (I was in fact timing, this isn't the first time) My guy keeps 'em short. He wasn't in a rush or anything, I just don't think he really finds anything about my life interesting... but it's all good. I think he's happy about the progress in the area? But he also didn't know we had a chapel building or branch in our area either, so I really don't know what to think lol. I'm not too upset tho, as long as the work moves forward in ZION-talapa!
Anyway, general conference was this week! And it was an awesome one! My scripture of the week will be a talk from the sunday afternoon session of this weekend. The one by D Todd Christofferson, I love his talks. He expounded a bit on the idea of thinking celestially, about what it means to have a "valient testimony of Jesus". If you haven't listened to it, I invite you to go find it and listen to it! If you have already seen it, think about the things you can do in your life to have a more "valient testimony of Jesus".
That's what I got, another solid week in the books. Thanks for reading if you did and ¡adios!
