5/12/25: Alcanfores on top

Hey everybody, sorry I didn't wright last week! But I'm here now.

Over the last two weeks, Elder Krezdorn and I have been working really hard in our área. We've really enjoyed working with the members and helping them to get the mission work moving a bit more here.

Last week the whole district presidency got changed out and everyone in the San Cristobal district essentially got chewed out for not working enough with the missionaries and the recent converts. Since then there have been some big changes in the attitude in our branch here. As of yet we have 2 people that will get baptized this month, which is helping everyone to get excited about the mission work.

This last Tuesday I had the opportunity to do some exchanges with some missionaries here in pur district. They're in an area called Chenalhó. They cover 5 different branches all over the mountains of Chiapas. All of which have the majority of their services in Tzotzil, a local dialect.

The Elder and I went out to one of the branches in a town called Pantelhó to work there for the day. Pantelhó has been at war with itself for the past 2 years, and the guy I was with was one of the first missionaries to have been there since it was shut down. The town is now for the most part safe, but still a little iffy every now and then. The night we were there happened to be a night when the local bad guy group, "los Machetes", decided to attack. Fortunately the town has been swarmed by national guard and military personel, so their attack was not very successful, they didn't even make it to the entry way of the town. God protects His missionaries

It was an all round very interesting experience. We ended up staying in a small house in a safe part of town some members there lent us for the night.

Basically, they have been some good weeks. We're excited to help our friends Cristian and Luna get baptised here pretty soon. Pray that they go through well!

Scripture of the Week is 2 Nephi 26:24. It talks about how Christ invites all to come unto Him. Now the real question for you followers of Christ out there; what are you doing to live up to this attribute of Christ? Are you inviting all to come unto him? Or are you sending others away by simply not acting? They're good questions for everybody.

Anyway, thanks for reading. Pray for Pantelhó and have a great week! Adios

- Elder Allen
