5/6/24: Familia Ruiz
Heyo, ha llegado el momento de otro correo. Distfrutalo.
We had another big baptism, it was sweet. The Ruiz family is one of the most faithful I've seen. When Elder Flandes and I found them a few months ago, they started straight off with a clear desire to be baptized.
These guys were unstoppable with their faith. Their first roadblock was getting to church. They have their own tortilla business, and they decided to take work off every Sunday to follow the commandments more exactly and to be eligible for baptism. Second up was that they weren't married, but had been living together for over 24 years. A week after they found out that they needed to be legally married to get baptized, they got the documents signed and it was official. That's the kind of faith and action God loves to see in our lives. They are great examples.
It's awesome to see things that people usually use as excuses and issues in the way of their opportunities become so small and easily moved with just a little bit of faith and hope in Christ. Issues really do become non-issues when we look forward with an eye of faith.
Other than the baptism, this week was actually really slow... We're working a lot with different methods of finding and getting into doors to share messages, but we're not seeing a lot of fruit regardless. I'm learning how to be grateful in the good and the bad haha. All I know is complaining never does any good, so we just keep trucking through it!
We also had Zone conference this week and we finally got the other companionship moved out of the house after 2 and a half weeks of us four sharing 3 mattresses. They now have a house of their own and we all have our own beds, and it's wonderful.
Scripture of the Week is D&C 9:8, the way the Holy Spirit works with us and confirms truth.
"But, behold, I say unto you, that you must study it out in your mind; then you must ask me if it be right, and if it is right I will cause that your bosom shall burn within you; therefore, you shall feel that it is right."
It's a cool verse because it is very direct and straight forward. We can know and feel what is right by humbling ourselves and following these steps in faith.
But yeah, that's the week. Hope y'all had a good one and didn't drink too much coke! (I've been fasting coke for two weeks now out of gastronomical necesity). ¡Adios!
