6/4/24: Las Elecciones

This email is coming to you one day later. My zone had zone conferences yesterday, so we got our Pday moved to today.

Mexico (in particular Chiapas, the state of Mexico I'm in) was a little wacky this week. It was the week of presidential elections, which only happen every 6 years here, so there was some interesting things people were doing this week. Things like blocking roads in protests, stopping gasoline lines, a lot of partys and drunk people, and as always, sadly, more shootings between local cartel members.

So, for obvious reasons, we stayed in the house all day Sunday (the day of elections) and avoided the local chaos of voting.

Despite all this... Cintalapa is still by far the best area in Chiapas!! (I like this place). We saw some more great success with some people in our teaching pool. We were struggling quite a bit last transfer to find new people to teach, but things have started to look up for the future of the area. We've found a lot of really great people and put 3 more on date! Cesar, Gael and Marta all have some kind of large obstacle in their path with Christ for the moment, but they've made the goal and want to move forward in the gospel! So we're hopefully gonna be able to help them with that.

Overall it was another great week. And what made it even better, we saw rain at one point.

The Scripture of the Week is gonna be a long one, so I won't put all of it, but I will put a part I like. It's Moroni 7:31,
"And the office of their ministry is to call men unto repentance, and to fulfil and to do the work of the covenants of the Father..."
I like this scripture a lot because of the directness it gives to what missionary work is. I became a missionary to help people 1. repent and 2. make covenants with God so that they can be ready and willing to recieve the blessings and peace that come from these two divine gifts.

That is the week. Thank you for reading (if you're a real one) and hope you guys have a good one! ¡Hasta luego!
