Hello Hello all my fellow people. How are we all doing? I am doing pretty solid, it was a good week, started a little slow, but things really picked up towards the end.
This week we got to do some interesting service, it was pretty fun tho. We went to go wash dogs at a pound with a local service missionary that found a place that wanted help in our area. So we went over on saturday to wash some doggies. It was a good time. I didn't realize there was any kind of a care for dogs here in Mexico cuz there's so many on the street lol, but I guess some people really do care.
There were about 15-20 dogs in the place, and we ended up washing about 6, some other people had also come to do some service and helped out with the washing. It was weird seeing clean and extremely chill dogs. Normally the ones here in Mexico are super gross and diseased and either trying to end my life or think I'm going to end theirs, so it was a good refresher to see some happy doggies in Chiapas.
We also put two baptismal dates for two awesome people we've been talking with for a bit. One is a lady named Anahis who has known the missionaries and church for a few months through her husband who's a member. She just hasn't been able to get baptized cuz they're not married. But, they got a marriage date set for the 23rd of August so we'll have her baptism as soon as we can afterwards!
The other lady is named Adriana (yes it is the second Adriana I've taught and set a baptismal date with) and she is awesome. Definition of "elegida". She loves learning about the gospel and the Church and she's already homies with a lot of the members. She's progressed about as well as anyone possibly could, and fully intends on being converted for life, so she's great. Her date is set for August 10th.
Also, we taught my first ever lesson in English yesterday (I learned I teach a lot more smoothly in Spanish, my comp did great tho). It was with someone who saw the missionaries on Facebook and thought she could get some English practice with us. She actually turned out to be super interested in the Gospel, and even brought her friend out to talk with us who ended up also being extremely interested. It was a cool little experience.
Scripture of the Week is 1 Nephi 13:37, is says:
"And blessed are they who shall seek to bring forth my Zion at that day, for they shall have the gift and the power of the Holy Ghost..."
It's a great one cuz it mentions the many blessings of building of God's kingdom on the Earth. It's a good reminder for me that missionary work is indeed so very worth it. As a current front line construction worker in Zion, I can say it isn't the easiest thing. The blessings are in fact eternal tho, so it is a very worthwhile thing to do.
Anyway, that'll be the rundown of the week (btw my arm is mostly better if anyone is wondering). Thanks for reading if you did and have a great week! ¡Adios!
