8/12/24: Bautismo de Adriana
Hey all, what's up, this week was a little slower, but still good.
This week (as the title mentions) was Adriana's baptism! Adriana is super cool and has been ready for baptism since the day we found her. She has a friend in our ward who gave us the reference a while back, and we got him to do the baptism, which was awesome!
I've mentioned a bit about her before, but I'll say it again, Adriana is like the pinacle of "the elect" people we're always looking for. She has a great understanding of Faith and what it requires to spiritually grow, so she was awesome to teach.
Member references are key to mission work, especially here in Tuxtla. Door-to-door finding and public contacting are practically useless here as most everyone immediately turns off when they see missionaries at their door (The JWs sweep the crap out of the streets here, so I guess everyone is sick of people like us). So success is largely based on the members doing their part of the missionary work. It's fun to work with the members in finding and meeting others.
Honestly, other than the baptism this week was really empty... but that's just how it goes sometimes! We'll just have to see what next week has in store for us.
To end off, the Scripture of the Week is from 2 Nephi 32:9, a great one about prayer.
"But behold, I say unto you that ye must pray always, and not faint; that ye must not perform any thing unto the Lord save in the first place ye shall pray unto the Father in the name of Christ, that he will consecrate thy performance unto thee, that thy performance may be for the welfare of thy soul."
It's a good reminder of why we should pray and who makes prayer possible. When Christ consecrates our lives, they can so much better and joyfilled.
Anyway, that's about it folks! Thanks for reading, have a good week and remember to say your prayers! ¡Adios!
