8/19/24: Party Time

Hello to all mis queridos amigos. We had transfers this week, and the mission changed a lot, which is cool.

Elder Peterson got sent off to Comitan after his 3rd transfer here and I stayed back in La Pimienta. I recieved Elder Roquemore. Elder Roquemore is from Colorado, but lived for a few years in Kent, Washington, close to my og hometown of Renton, Washington, so that's a fun connection. He is a transfer younger than me in the mission, but has only been in Mexico for about 4 and a half months due to a late visa. He's a super cool guy and is 3 years older than me, so I'm excited to get some life wisdom from him this transfer.

Being comps with Elder Roquemore this transfer means that I will have never been with a comp who has a year on the mission for my whole first year! Meaning, I'll be the first companion I've had who's completed a year! Which is kinda fun.

This transfer will be a good one, I'll be going on a lot of exchanges from what it sounds like... They cut down the sizing of a bunch of districts in the mission so that the LDs can get around and do exchanges with each missionary in the district (not just each companionship). I got the opportunity to be in the biggest all-Elder district in the mission! Meaning I'll be going on about 6 exchanges during the transfer! It'll be fun I guess, I've always enjoying exchanges.

The work in the area is good, a tad slow, but good. Our new convert Adriana is awesome. We have a couple getting married this week so the wife can get baptized, which'll be good. We're hoping to put some dates with a guy named Geovanni and a lady named Joanna (the english speaking lady) this week! So that should be good!

Anyway, other than transfers and all that nothing else too crazy happened, so I'll end it off with the Scripture of the Week.

In Jacob 4:10 it says:
"Wherefore, brethren, seek not to counsel the Lord, but to take counsel from his hand..."
I really like this verse because it puts into perspective what we try to do with God sometimes. Sometimes we try to reason away or justify something unjust and try to tell or counsel God (whether it be directly or indirectly) that we're right. We are always wrong when we deny God's counsel. Like Jacob says, just take His counsel, even when it is a little tough or comes from a mouth we didn't expect or even want to hear it from.

That's the wrap! Hope y'all have a good week and keep up the prayers! ¡Adios!
